Today I read ‘The Ride of a Lifetime’, a memoir by Robert Iger. In his book, the CEO of The Walt Disney Company looks back on his career at ABC and subsequently the ‘House of Mouse’, while providing lessons in creative leadership along the way. Through autobiographical anecdotes and personal values, Mr. Iger tells the story of his career in a captivating manner. Moreover, the book provides a look ‘behind the scenes’ of the major acquisitions of Pixar Animation Studios, Marvel Entertainment, Lucasfilm, 21st Century Fox, and BAMTECH Media. (The latter enabled direct-to-consumer distribution, being Disney Streaming Services such as Disney+.) I found it very inspiring to read his personal journey, and I highly recommend the book to all those interested in creative leadership and entertainment management.
